Any suggestions on writing better press releases?
I think it is very important to keep them very, very simple. We are in a highly sophisticated industry and our products are very technical. Sometimes because we work and talk about them all of the time, we often forget that we need to keep our message simple. The best is to keep the message simple as possible because we don’t know who our audience will be or what knowledge they may have of gaming or technology.
How do you go about building long term relationships with your customers and journalists?
As far as building relationships with the media we view you as our customer. I think one of the things that we do really well here at Bally is that we are very responsive to the media. If we get a request for information on one of our products such as Betty Boop’s Love Meter or technical requests, we can respond very, very quickly such as sending out an image of a game and things like that.
We understand that the journalist is talking about Bally and our products is good for the company so we try to be really responsive. We try to build relationships with the media by talking to them, socializing with the media when we can and making time at trade shows to talk with them and that is really very important.
Can you describe your style of management?
I guess the best way to describe it is open in the fact that I am very accessible to my team and that I am a hands on person but I am getting a lot better at delegating and I have a great team to which to delegate to. But I still like to stay involved and know what is going on.
What do you look for when hiring someone?
First I look for someone who is really enthusiastic and has a lot of passion for what they do and they are really enthusiastic about Bally and making a contribution. If a person does not have passion about what they do, they are not going to do their job at one hundred percent.
What will Bally be showing at this year’s G2E?
We will be showing about 300 games, we are coming out with some new games. We will have the second largest stand at this year’s G2E. We
37
They are going to our various Social Media pages and telling us how much they love our games and things like that. We get letters and e mails all of the time from players who say they will be visiting such and such city and they want to know where they can play Bally Games.
Bally Technologies also has a large presence on various Social Media on the internet. Contrary to popular belief, the fastest growing segment and users of Facebook is women in their forties. We have a full time employee who is dedicated to handling Social Media and that’s where we are finding we are getting a lot more interaction from slot players directly.
are also going to have a mobile applications area since Bally just acquired a company called Macroview Labs. So we are going to have mobile apps and we are going to be showing all of our various technologies.
Do you have any thoughts on the G2E’s new venue, the Sand’s Expo Center?
I think it is exciting, it is a new location which is right on the Las Vegas Strip so it is right in the heart of gaming and it is centrally located near all of the hotels, so it is a great location for the G2E.
Why do people gamble?
We just did a survey of 2,400 slot players from North America and it is interesting when you read it that the top reasons people gamble is for entertainment, for fun for excitement and for opportunity. We knew that, but to actually see that validated in a survey of 2,400 slot players is pretty gratifying.
What do you look for when you walk into a casino?
I look for Bally Games! It’s kind of funny because my husband has said, if we go out for dinner, ‘I can’t take you any place because you are always looking around the slot floor for Bally Games.’ I look to see where they are, where they are placed and things like that.
