SCORES of boxes containing 3897 teapots have flooded into Morpeth, in preparation for the opening tomorrow (Thursday) of the Morpeth Weird and Wonderful Novelty Teapot Exhibition.
Being staged at Morpeth Gallery at
Campbell’s Store craft centre over 11 days, teapots have come from every state in Australia and the overseas tea-drinking nations of England and China With both functional, non-functional teapots
on sale, this year’s exhibition theme is an Alice in Wonderland Mad Hatter’s tea party. Teapots in the shapes of a pocket watch, playing cards, rabbits, a toadstool and some special hand-painted teapots by local artists with all the key characters are a feature of the display.
In conjunction with the exhibition, Morpeth’s
Tea Cosy Challenge has brought out the best in 163 entrants from every state in Australia. The exhibition runs until August 28.
