Stars in his eyes since he was 10

Stars in his eyes since he was 10

THE Post’s own psychic, Sydney- based Francis Bevan, will be in town next week.

Mr Bevan said he had been honing his skills since he was 10, but it wasn’t until he left the police service in 1984 that he decided he wanted to become a professional clairvoyant.

“I never really stepped away from it,” he said.

“I just never seriously contemplated it as a profession. Nowadays, it is quite common for people to become a professional psychic.”

Described as an all-rounder, Mr Bevan said he was skilled in astrology, tarot and numerology, as well as being a natural psychic and medium.

“I’ve been doing this since I was about 10 years old,” he said. “My mum was quite interested in the psychic side of things and had read in a magazine that children are the most psychic of all so, we started doing experimental things.”

As a psychic, Mr Bevan said people came to him for all sorts of issues from property and business deals to marriage, family and relationships.

“There are some people I’ve been reading for since 1984. It takes a belief in yourself, but also you have to have a genuine desire to help people.

Seniors’ Week funding open COMMUNITY organisations are encouraged to apply for grants to fund activities during 2012 NSW Seniors’ week. State upper house member Linda Voltz said Seniors’ Week was a great way to recognise the eff orts of older people in the community. “Older people in the community have a wealth of wisdom, skills and knowledge. They deserve to have their contribution recognised during Seniors’ Week,” she said. “Each year, more than 900 events occur across NSW to celebrate the contibution seniors make. “The grants program off ers seed funding for community organisations to create activities to be run during NSW Seniors’ Week. “I would encourage community groups to start thinking about new events for next year and apply for funding.” For more information, visit nswseniorsweek.com.au. Appplications close at 5pm on Friday, September 9.

School environment grants PUBLIC schools in Newcastle have been urged to apply for a teachers environment fund grant from Teachers Credit Union. The fund awards grants of up to $5000 for sustainability or environmental projects. “We know that many schools would like to establish projects to teach environmental values, but sometimes need a boost in resources to create real- life experiences of sustainability to engage students,” Teachers Credit Union CEO Steve James said. “These grants help make lessons about the environment more hands-on and fun, whether it’s an outdoor classroom or technology to enhance a project. The fund awards grants to schools that submit a proposal demonstrating viable long-term projects and links to a broader environmental education strategy. Applications for the grants close on Friday, September 16. To appply and for more information, visit teacherscreditunion.com.au.

“To have people come back to you constantly for advice and guidance is a mark of any good professional.”

Mr Bevan said he often had people come to him who had never had readings before and who could be sceptical. “That’s okay with me, as long as they come with an open mind,” he said.

“I’m not expecting them to believe everything I say or live by what I say, but use the readings as a guidance. “That’s what they are; guidance to the right direction. At the end of the day, you have your free will.” Mr Bevan said he was excited about making his fi rst professional trip to Newcastle.

“It will give me the chance

to fi nally put a face to all those people who I have been doing phone readings for over the past years and to connect with the regular followers of my astrological column in The Post,” he said.

Mr Bevan will conduct half-hour or one- hour readings at the Crowne Plaza Hotel from Tuesday, August 23 to Thursday, August 25. To make a booking, phone 0402 026 133 or email info@francisbevan.com, or for more information, go to francisbevan.com. His books, The Handbook of Psychic Development and Your Future by Reading the Cards, will also be available at special prices.
