Sign 2000 secures major European signage contract

In what might prove to be its most valuable project, Sign 2000 has been awarded the European re-branding of CORUS (formerly British Steel) to TATA STEEL following its acquisition by the global powerhouse Tata Group. The contract followed a stringent tender process involving participating companies from a number of European countries. The tendering criteria was based on suitability to deliver throughout Europe with partnering local regional assistance, an ability to value engineer products in collaboration with the Tata design team and wide experience in the various product fabrication processes necessary. The scope of the works, which are due for completion in

August of this year, covers the supply of signage to a host of 130 varying types of site, from sales offices and distribution centres to full production facilities with footprints in excess of 15 square kilometres. Sign 2000 will be responsible for the cradle to grave management of the programme. This includes carrying out a meticulous audit of existing signage at each location, producing brand-compliant scheme proposals with recommendations in

relation to rationalisation and appropriate positioning. All of the signage is being manufactured at the company’s extensive new Kent facility, enabling it to implement stringent control over both the quality of work and lead times. Sign 2000’s European partners operating within The Sign Alliance trading initiative will provide assistance at overseas locations. In excess of 10,000 individual signs will be

produced and will include main identification totem, bespoke main identification, Tata Steel building, secondary building identification, bay, grid reference location, directional and secondary sign formats. To give an idea of the size of the sites to be re-branded, the facility in Port Talbot, South Wales, is five miles long while the main Netherlands site covers an area of 15 square kilometres. Sign 2000 is successfully meeting critical time

scales and delivering the programme across the European community at an agreed single rate. For further information, visit the website www.sign2000.co.uk or telephone 0845 265 2000.
