Extended range of flatbed media applicators from William Smith

Since its introduction five years ago, the RollsRoller Flatbed Applicator from William Smith has been widely recognised by the sign and graphics and digital printing industries to be one of the the most cost-effective and accurate methods of applying self-adhesive materials, application tapes and digital prints to virtually any commonly used substrate up to a thickness of 65mm. Significantly, the machine has enabled owners to achieve time savings of up to 80 per cent by comparison with other forms of application and has resulted in the RollsRoller becoming the method of choice by well over 200 leading professionals where it has been used continuously with little or no maintenance under the most demanding conditions and with the need only of a single operator. Now this highly innovative, patented and superbly

engineered solution is available in 18 different machine configurations and in three distinct performance categories (Standard Duty, Premium Grade and Traffic that, as the grading implies, is specific to the production of road traffic signs). A host of optional design features, that include a height adjustment facility, extension tables, additional roller beam and self-sealing cutting mat, further enable the machine’s production capabilities to be fully realised. The availability of fluorescent tube backlighting on selective models also enhances the accuracy of the media registration process and makes the RollsRoller particularly ideal for use with multi-coloured or translucent graphics. Due to the particular design of the machine, important health and safety considerations are also more effectively addressed.

For example, lifting and handling of materials is greatly restricted, injury to operators is unheard of and most applications can be achieved in a single-pass process to further reduce employee exertions. Leading sign and graphics companies like Butterfield Signs,

Hawes Signs, Greens the Signmaker, Signs Express and Action Graphics have been fulsome in their praise of the machine. Edward Butterfield of Butterfield Signs commented: “Since we

installed the RollsRoller, production has increased dramatically. A job that would hitherto have taken 10 hours now takes just two hours to complete.” Equally enthusiastic was Simon

Ward of Greens the Signmaker, who added: ”We have been able to cut the time normally required to apply vinyl to a substrate by two thirds. Jobs that previously required two people now require only one.” Lee Eaton of Signs Express

(Manchester) commented: “The RollsRoller has enabled us to achieve the increased productivity and improved quality that we required. It has tripled our output and, by reducing manual handling procedures, has made our work more effective overall.” Much of the success of the

RollsRoller Flatbed Applicator is attributable to the level of service provided by William Smith via its in-house dedicated team of specially trained engineers. This facility is underpinned by the availability of on-site training, a comprehensive and easily navigated user instruction manual and a maintenance contract. For more information or to
