FK Moore – supplying fixings of quality since the 1890s

FK Moore Ltd believes it not only has the largest variety of brass locators and cover-head screws in the marketplace today, but that it could also be the UK’s oldest supplier of these products. Along with Adam Stokes, Paul Farrant took over the reins

of the business in 2010 after his father Bob retired. This marked not only the third generation of the Farrant family at the helm, but also the last interest of the Moore family as the change coincided with retirement of Michael Moore. Ron Farrant, Paul’s grandfather, joined forces with the

Moore family in South London shortly after the Second World War, where the business had largely been located since 1890. The mid ’60s saw the redevelopment of the Old Kent Road and with it a switch from the smog of London to the sea air of the Kent coast and a brand new, purpose built factory in Ramsgate. As what may be the UK’s oldest

supplier of cover-head screws, stand-offs and brass locator fixings, F K Moore aim to continue providing their customers with an unrivalled product range, their focus clearly remaining on the quality and value of the fixings they offer. “We have the advantage that

we don’t import anything, which is nice as it gives us the flexibility to listen to our customers needs on an individual basis, and where it is viable, meet those needs in a bespoke manner,” Paul explains.

”Some of our most popular products have come from this kind of product evolution – we have the largest variety of brass locators and cover-head screws in the marketplace today.” It is this evolution that has

seen the F K Moore portfolio of products grows to meet the needs of the glass and mirror industries, shop-fitters and sign manufacturers alike. “We are fortunate to carry

with us a wealth of experience that travels back well over a century. This helps our customers trust us to deliver the product they need

today, tomorrow, and for the years ahead. In uncertain times, they need to know that we will be around to do this, just as we have been since 1890.” During the recent transition, pre-war copies of customers’

statements were uncovered that included names such as ‘Pilkington’s of St Helens’. “It’s nice to think that we had a tiny part to play in the

success of such prestigious businesses, but more importantly we can still count them as valued customers to this day,” remarks Paul. Whilst flicking through black and white photos of the

old London shop, a cigar-toting grandfather Ron dutifully overseeing a factory packed full of machinists, and father Bob at a trade fair in the seventies, Paul comments: “It was Winston Churchill that said ‘The farther backward you can look, the farther forward you are likely to see’, so I’m sure that, whether it is the next generation of Farrant or a Stokes, our customers can rest assured that for generations to come, F K Moore continue to be the name forever synonymous with a commitment to a quality product and excellent service that is unrivalled among its peers of the day!” Telephone 01843 593440 or go to the website www.fkmoore.com to find out more.
