Plain clothes officers will be patrolling the allotment areas. If any members of the public see any criminal or suspicious activity please contact the police. Traffic Enforcement Operations coming to a town near you. One of the current police objectives is to reduce road traffic casualties in an attempt to make the roads of Lancashire safer. Officers will now regularly be conducting operations targeting motorists who break the law and will be issuing fixed penalty notices. i.e. not wearing seatbelts, using a mobile phone whilst driving, not displaying the correct registration numbers and letters etc… Again officers would prefer to direct their efforts on other policing priorities and not prosecute motorists, so please abide by the traffic laws. Parking on school crossings / Zig Zag lines Please may I remind those who attend schools to drop off or collect children to not park on the marked yellow Zig Zag lines outside schools. The police often receive complaints regarding this matter so much so that it was raised as a problem by residents at the recent area council meeting.

It is an offence to

do so and those caught can be issued a fixed penalty notice or summons to court. No police officer wishes to enforce this punishment but there is a great concern that a child will be knock down by a vehicle if a driver or pedestrian’s vision is obscured. Children have been knocked down previously so for the safety of all children please do not park on them. Email: GreatHarwood.NPT@lancashire.pnn.police.uk
