We have quite a busy edition this month especially with the latest news of The Great Harwood Agricultural Show. You can now book in advance and save valuable time queuing on the day. But the last two years have been a fabulous success and a brilliant day out for all the family. See pages 10, 11 &12. 12th May is Limerick day, so guess what? We’ve got lots of daft Limericks, some about the Herald’s Angels. Plus a little competition if you fancy writing a Limerick yourself. See page 27. Our recent themes of awareness days have been quite popular, so we have more on page 6, but they get more and more bizarre. Who dreamt this one up….??? “Be nice to Nettles week.” We kid you not. The Month of May also sees British Butty Week, so you have a chance to vote for your favourite Butty Shop in our feature on page 13. You might even win our prize of Jamie Oliver’s best selling book on 30 minute meals. There’s still time to get involved with the Rotary club’s event, “walk 4 your charity,” on 8th May, but the clock is ticking. Page 22. And we can’t believe the response to our mystery pub quiz. Last month we even got our grid wrong and we still had stacks of entries. So we’ve got another on page 28 about old fashioned sweets. The tension is building for Accrington Stanley as they have a brilliant chance of qualifying for the promotion play-offs, and they have a new state of the art shirt deal leaving some of the premiership clubs behind.
