Great Harwood Show 30th May


Carnival Donation Accrington Lions have just been using some of the money collected from the previous carnival to support a local charity group. As can be seen from the picture, Lion President Caz Moreton is seen presenting to members of the St John Ambulance a portable examination table and step. This piece of equipment will be used by them to treat injured people at many of the events they cover around Hyndburn throughout the year. The St John Ambulance Divisional Superintendent Janet Seddon in thanking Accrington Lions for their most generous donation said that the examination couch would be put to good use at the forthcoming carnival and also at the Accrington Stanley ground as well as many other events that they cover. The equipment they have at the moment is not really suitable and the addition of this new equipment would mean they could give a much better service to those in need. Lion President Caz said she was pleased to be able to give them this much needed equipment and hoped it would be used at the forthcoming carnival, but not necessarily to treat any injured persons. She also thanked the St Johns for all they do for the Lions at all their events as well as for all those they cover around Hyndburn.
