It Never Rains ! Hyndburn Weather report for March 2011 With the sun getting ever higher in the sky (yippee) this month proved to be a very dry one. I recorded only 30mm of the wet stuff, which if this continues throughout the year, not only will there be a hosepipe ban, there may have to be a curtailment of beer production!....Heaven forbid. From the 19th to the 29th not a drop fell, which led to some lovely sunny days, with tem- peratures in double figures. Once the sun went down however, the mercury fell quite sharply, which led to very cool nights. With high winds normally expected at this time, there was only one really windy day on the 10th with gusts recorded around 45mph, yes people, as Bob Dylan would say....the times they are a changin’ Frank Whittaker. Leader of the INDEPENDENTS in HYNDBURN DAVID MASON today launched the Great Harwood Independent Branch of the now well established Independents on Hyndburn Borough Council who could hold the balance of power after the forthcoming election on May 5th He has welcomed this progress as it enforces a top table seat at HBC for too long run by the warring parties TORY vs LABOUR The INDEPENDENTS manifesto for the election is straight forward, reign in the politicians such as the present leader who is quoted as saying `he has to live` quite astounding when his salary runs into 10s of thousand of pounds of the electorate’s money, but more important if the Tories are returned to power, the gravy train and the practice of paying councillors for non jobs will continue, we had such a case in Harwood highlighted at the last local election. Cuts, cuts, cuts to public services police, nurses, doctors, education, welfare, social care, respite care, libraries and to top all this Families are being squeezed the worst in 90 years, it is high time politicians took some responsibility OPENNESS, HONESTY and TRANSPARANCY that is the INDEPENDENTS pledge to the folk of HYNDBURN A note to the Harwood electorate, it is in your power to change HBC for the better remember whose DEBT you are paying off, - LABOUR and remember HOW rising taxation and redundancies this being the TORY way.
