Angela Booth Malleau Receives 2010 Dressage Canada Media Award of Excellence
Ottawa, ON—Dressage Canada is proud to announce that Angela Booth Malleau is the recipient of the 2010 Dressage Canada Media Award of Excellence in recog- nition of her outstanding contribution to communications and promotion of Dressage Canada, its athletes and pro- grams. It is annual award which recognizes a media part- ner who has made significant contributions to the sport of dressage in Canada
Booth Malleau of Newcastle, ON, has been a vol- unteer for Dressage Canada for five years, and for the past three years, she has been the Chair of the Dressage Canada Communications Committee, which is responsi- ble for all the Dressage Canada communications vehi- cles. Booth Malleau is the editor of Dressage Canada Collections Magazine, she approves all of the Dressage Canada media releases and creates the annual and sought after Dressage Canada calendar.
In addition to her volunteer duties with Dressage Canada, Booth Malleau operates her own graphic design business specializing in the equine and publishing indus- tries.
“I am honoured to receive this award, and to be held in such prestigious company,” said Booth Malleau. Booth Malleau was recognized for her dedication and ongoing contribution to the sport of dressage in Canada at Dressage Canada’s annual reception held at the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair November 11th in Toronto, ON.
“This award is presented to the member of the media that we feel has done an outstanding job promot- ing dressage in Canada. Angela has certainly done that in 2010,” remarked the chair of the Dressage Canada Nominations Committee, Lisa Hossack-Scott. In additional to these communication duties, Booth Malleau volunteers with the advertising and athlete pro- motion for Dressage Canada. Each year at the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair Dressage Canada organizes ath- lete autograph sessions for Canadian dressage fans and supporters. Booth Malleau creates autograph cards of Dressage Canada FEI athletes, Junior to Grand Prix, who represented Canada, which is a crowd favourite at the Royal.
CBC Bold was the recipient of the award in 2008 for their exceptional same-day coverage of the Canadian Equestrian Team at 2008 Beijing Olympics. In 2007, equestrian photographer, Cealy Tetley, won the award for her work covering Canadian dressage riders at major international events. CBC Country Canada was the inau- gural recipient of the award, in 2006, for their coverage of the 2006 World Equestrian Games (WEG) from Aachen, Germany.

Inaugural Dressage Canada Hall of Fame Organizing Committee Named 2010 Dressage
Canada Volunteers of the of the Year Ottawa, Ontario—Dressage Canada is pleased to announce that the inaugural Dressage Canada Hall of Fame Organizing Committee has been named 2010 Dressage Canada Volunteers of the of the Year. In 2009, Dressage Canada announced the establishment of the Dressage Canada Hall of Fame, which was held Sunday, April 25th, 2010, at Toronto’s Eglinton Grand Theatre. Through the Hall of Fame, Dressage Canada shared, celebrated and appreciated the significant Cana- dian contributors to the sport of dressage.
In addition to recognizing the first inductees who have made outstanding contributions to the growth and development of dressage in Canada, the net proceeds from the gala assisted the Canadian dressage athletes in their pursuit of excellence at the 2010 Alltech World Equestrian Games.
The Hall of Fame was a huge success as a result of the hard work and dedication of the volunteer committee comprised of Kim Goodyear, Nancy Petersons, Eliza- beth Elming, Cathy Lane, Debbie Elming, Kim Izzo, Elizabeth McMullen and Rebecca Elming. “It was great to receive the award,” said Goodyear, who was the Hall of Fame Committee chair. “The recog- nition for the hard working volunteers on the committee is appreciated.”
“The countless hours that Dressage Canada Hall of
Fame Organizing Committee spent organizing this tremendously successful event certainly stands out as a significant effort to the benefit of dressage in Canada,” said Dressage Canada 2010 Celebration of Dressage organizer, Lisa Hossack-Scott.
The Dressage Canada Volunteer Recognition Award aims to recognize and acknowledge the contribu- tions of individuals that give their time to Dressage Canada. The nominee does not necessarily have to be currently involved, but may have given outstanding con- tributions and service in the past.
Past recipients of this award have included Kerri McGregor, Elizabeth Robinson, Carolyn Tipler, Claire Milton, Gwen Beaton, Hazel Stinson, Linda Dieno, Linda Lockhart, Shirley Guertin-Cook, Valerie Frost and Nicole Duplessis.

Canadian Equestrians named to leadership roles
within the Canadian Olympic Committe Members of Equine Canada continue to earn the confidence of the national sport community to help lead Canada’s Olympic movement
Ottawa, ON — Equine Canada is proud to announce that the ranks of Canadian equestrians named to leadership roles in the Canadian Olympic Committee (COC) con- tinue to grow.
Victoria Winter (Toronto), one of our Dressage ath- letes, has served as a member of the COC Athletes’ Council since 1998, and was named to the COC Audit Committee in 2009. A multiple Pan American Games bronze medallist, Victoria represented Canada most recently at the 2010 World Equestrian Games. Kerri McGregor (Newmarket), our Chef de Mis- sion, was named to the Canadian Olympic Committee Sport Relations Committee in 2009, and serves as our voting member at the COC Session. Earlier this year, Kerri coordinated the largest-ever Canadian Equestrian Team at the World Equestrian Games in Kentucky. Akaash Maharaj (Almonte), our Chief Executive Officer, will now join Victoria and Kerri, as he was
named to the COC Governance and Ethics Committee during this past weekend’s Session. A triple FEI Inter- national Championships gold medallist, Akaash has led our federation over the past three years, through our most successful Olympics, Paralympics, and World Equestrian Games. He has set his personal priorities for his role with the COC as expanding transparency, democracy and public accountability in COC gover- nance.
Champion Not Bourbon Retires to Norse Ridge Farm
Charles Fipke’s homebred Queen’s Plate winner Not Bourbon will enter stud next year at the Hunderup family’s Norse Ridge Farm near King City, Ontario for a fee of $5,000 Canadian funds, with special consideration to approved mares. The 5- year-old Roger Attfield trainee is a multiple stakes winner of 7 races and $1,085,309.
“Akaash was named by the Board of the COC to the Governance and Ethics Committee. This young man is bright and articulate, and he places a lot of importance on ethics. He is a great asset to the committee,” Marcel Aubut, President of the COC. “This committee is the watch dog of COC operations, and the COC wants to have the best Governance and Ethics Committee consid- ering its importance in this day and age. The competence of Akaash makes him a fantastic addition.”

cious 2-year-old, Not Bour- bon won a 5 1/2-furlong Woodbine maiden race before setting a new 6-fur- long track record of 1:08.84 in Woodbine’s Bull Page S. He returned at three to capture four stakes from six starts, including the 1 1/4-mile Queen’s Plate, a 5-length score in the 7-furlong Queenston S., and a 4 1/2-length victory in the 7-furlong Overskate S.
“Not Bourbon showed great speed and ability, and carried his speed the 1 1/4- mile classic distance,” added trainer Roger Attfield. “He is a tremen- dous physical specimen and loved to train.”
He is a son of Not Impossible (IRE), a full brother to Fipke’s home- bred champion and Grade 1 winner Perfect Soul, out of Bourbon Belle, a Grade 1- placed multiple graded
stakes winner of $1,152,223. Not Impossi- ble (IRE) is also the sire of graded stakes winner and multiple Grade 1-placed Society’s Chairman ($674,521) and multiple stakes winner Impossible Time ($473,895) from only a few limited foal crops. Both Not Impossible and Perfect Soul were sired by leading international sire and sire-of-sires Sadler’s Wells, whose sons also include leading sires Mont- jeu, Galileo, and El Prado (IRE), out of a daughter of outstanding broodmare- sire-of-sires Secretariat. Ainsley Vince Wins 2010 Jump Canada Series Title
Ottawa, ON —For the sec- ond year in a row Ainsley Vince of Milton, ON, was named the Jump Canada Series Champion following the final event in the 2010 Series, the $100,000 Cana- dian Show Jumping Cham- pionships, which was held November 5 and 6 during the Royal Horse Show in Toronto, ON.
With Frieda, a nine- year-old German-bred mare owned by The KMA Group, Vince enjoyed con- sistent results throughout the 2010 season. High- lights included a second place finish in the $50,000 Grand Prix at the Caledon National Horse Show in Palgrave, ON, and a third place finish in the World Cup Qualifier at the CSI2*- W Classique Internationale de Blainville in Blainville, QC. At the Halton Place Country Classic I, the pair finished third in the $40,000 M. Villarboit Grand Prix and, during week two, won the $40,000 SwissCan Grand Prix. At the final event at the Royal Horse Show, Vince held on to top spot to become the overall winner of the 2010 Jump Canada Series with a total of 217 points. Vince’s greatest competi- tion came from Lauren Hunkin of Kemptville, ON, who earned a total of 169.80 points in the 2010 Jump Canada Series riding Larry 0146, a 12-year-old Oldenburg gelding owned by Synergy Farm.

Vince was presented with the prestigious Jump Canada Trophy, generously donated by Barbara Ander- son of Alberta, on Friday night, November 12, at the Royal Horse Show. Vince also received a $10,000 cash award, sponsored by Jump Canada, to be invest- ed by the rider into a devel- opment program intended to support future elite per- formance.
The Jump Canada Series has proven success- ful in providing a national jumper circuit with high standards of competition across the country. At the end of the Jump Canada Series, overall standings are calculated using the best six results, plus the final event in the Jump Canada Series at the CSI- W Royal Horse Show in Toronto, ON.
