The Chairman of the Football League paid a visit to the Crown Ground in November as part of his regional visit to the North West. Greg Clarke dropped in for a chat with staff and a tour of the ground.
"I took over as Chairman in February this year and what I've tried to do is make sure that me and the Football League staff get out to as many clubs as possible,” he said. “I've already done 30 games since I took over but midweek I also tend to drop in and see the people that run the club to chat about what's really going on in football.” Whilst at Accrington he met Assistant Manager Jimmy Bell, Commercial Manager Martin Edmundson, Secretary Hannah Bailey and Managing Director David O’Neill who gave him a tour of the ground. Mr Clarke was pleased with what he saw. "It has the feel of a proper football club, run by people who really, really care about the community and the club."
