SUMMERTIME IS ITV TIME!
Well we hope you are all enjoying the summer, down at the beach, sitting on your terrace and generally taking it easy? If so, spare a thought for us at Total Car Care. Summer can be a very busy time of year. It’s when most people buy cars, which means that it’s when there are a lot of ITVs to worry about.
We have already written about the frequency of Spain’s equivalent of the MOT, and that in many ways it is more onerous. It’s why we, and to be fair many other garages offer a pre-ITV service. There’s a good reason for this. A lot of people believe that if you fail, you have 30 days to correct the problem. This is simply wrong! If your car fails an ITV, you are required to go straight to a garage and get the repairs done. If you are stopped and your car has failed its ITV, you will be fined.
We offer a free-ITV with every service because all those things should be checked anyway during a full service. This brings us on to our ITV service. In short, if you bring us your car, we’ll check it and we’ll take it to the ITV centre for you and return it to you. Now, let’s be clear, nothing is guaranteed even if we check first. But we do have a better than 99% success rate. If our pre-ITV check reveals a small problem, we’ll call you before we work on your car.
All our work must be pre-approved by the client to avoid any nasty surprises. Small problems can be fixed and we’ll still go to ITV for you. If the problem is bigger, again we’ll discuss it with you and talk you through your options.
Just one final thing, it is now a requirement to present your insurance documents to the ITV centre, so be sure they’re all in order!
