CBBA Golf Benefit Day raises

1860 euros for HELP Pat Lee Patton Chairman of “HELP” of Denia and Marina Alta visited Los Arcos Restaurant on Wednesday 11 August to receive a cheque for 1860.00 euros which had been raised at a Golf Benefit Day organised by the Costa Blanca Business Association in July. Members of the CBBA and the other local businesses had donated prizes for a raffle and an auction, the organisers would like to thank all the companies and individuals that helped in any way to make this event so successful in raising such a magnificent total.

This donation will greatly help to

continue funding the “HELP - Care in Home Scheme” which has now been in place for over twelve months. Currently there are 14 cases where the association is providing care in the home. However, “HELP” believe there are many more people out in the community who are in situations where they “don’t know where to turn” and would benefit from this scheme but are probably unaware of its existence. “HELP” hopes that from publicity of this kind that more people will become aware and make use of the scheme.

As well as the “Care in the Home Scheme”, “HELP” still maintains all the other services it has been offering over the past 25 years, interpreting, loan of equipment and hospital visiting.

Since La Pedrera reopened “HELP” have created the “Adopt a Patient Scheme”. This is where a patient is “adopted” by a volunteer who visit that one patient on a regular basis to build up a relationship of care and companionship, and assist with any difficulties the patient may be experiencing. This is proving to be a great success. However, whilst these volunteers are active at La Pedrera, “HELP” has no permanent desk at that hospital and is therefore unable to offer the same interpreting service that it offers at the Denia Hospital. An interpreter can be provided on a private basis by contacting the “HELP” Centre in La Xara- 96 642 7044.

“HELP” is always looking for more volunteers to assist with their efforts

and at this moment in time there is a urgent need for volunteers in the Calpe area. Calpe covers a very large area and at the moment they have only a few volunteers to assist. So, if anyone feels they have some time to give to the community please contact the “HELP” Centre in La Xara tel. 96 642 7044.
