Brant County Canada Day Western Festival
With just 2 months of anticipa- tion remaining, the Brant County Canada Day Western Festival, June 30th through July 4th, 2010 contin- ues making big strides in its original stated plan of being the largest event of its kind in Ontario, Canada. Centered in Paris, Ontario, the event in support of the Paris Agricul- tural Society and Help A Child Smile will be five days of Western Action Sports with a festival atmosphere. Launching the week will be a two-day Barrel Racing clinic with instructor Troy Crumrine, the only $2,000,000 cowboy barrel racer. The clinic then segues into a 3-day $30,000 National Barrel Horse Asso- ciation Canada competition with a multitude of Eastern Canadian and North-East American Barrel Racers racing in an abundance of classes and divisions.
Recently announced on the offi- cial website of the Brant County Canada Day Western Festival,
www.BrantCountyWesternFest.com, was the Festival being named one of only 4 National Qualifying Events for the North American Barrel Rac- ing Challenge. Paris, Ontario joins Quesnel, British Columbia, Ponoka, Alberta and Brandon, Manitoba,
making the Festival the Eastern Canadian Qualifier for this first-ever $100,000 Grand-Prize barrel race. For Fans, they’ll watch the con- tenders not only competing for points and dollars, but a chance to be on Team Canada!
Also highlighted at the Festival are 3 performances of Live Rodeo. Friday Night the future World Cham- pions in the Ontario High School Rodeo Association will compete in the Standard Events of Rodeo (Bronc Riding, Steer Wrestling, Rop- ing, Barrel Racing and Bull Riding) plus other High School events (Pole Bending, Goat Tying, Chute Dog- ging and Ribbon Roping) for Schol- arship Dollars. Saturday Night and Sunday afternoon the “Pros” will compete in the spotlight in the Pro- fessional Rodeo produced by Rawhide Rodeo Company Canada. Among the field of contenders spanning all of North America in the Professional Rodeo will be Robin Williamson of Acton, Ontario, a for- mer International Professional Rodeo Association Reserve World Champi- on Barrel Racer, and Canada’s first IPRA World Champion, Steer Wrestler Matt Mousseau of Corbett, ON. At a recent press conference for
the Festival, Mousseau the 2008 and 2009 IPRA Steer Wrestling World Champion announced that he would donate all of his winnings from Steer Wrestling at the Festival to the chari- ty, Help A Child Smile. Though a great gesture in itself, there will defi- nitely be a large fanbase rooting on Mousseau in Steer Wrestling. The Party atmosphere will be rolling into the late hours of the weekend with a “Country Roots” night on Friday night showcasing local talent and Canadian Country Music Association Nominee Jamie Warren live on stage Saturday Night. Plus, there will be a large trade show spanning the Festival featuring not only Western Tack and Crafts, but several other non-horse related items “As Seen On TV”, and for per- sonal
nourishment...ie. Cotton Candy.

Anivac Corp. has been named official sanitizer of the 2010 WEG
By Mallory Hendry.
Recent outbreaks of equine influenza (EI) in Australia four years ago and France last year have pushed World Equestrian Games (WEG) officials to take the issue of not just cleanliness but saniti- zation very seriously. Canadian com- pany Anivac Corp. has been named offi- cial sanitizer of the 2010 WEG in Lex- ington, Kentucky.
Their product, Accel TB, offers a non-toxic way to safeguard against viruses such as EI.
This revolutionary disinfectant is used in 80 per cent of hospitals and veterinary clinics in Canada, as well as on cruise ships the world over. For Sylvia Deitrich it’s the four legged clientele that occupy her time. “We have the exclusive rights to sell to the animal world, world- wide,” she says.
Accel TB is made with com- monly used non-toxic ingredients which, when combined with less
than 1 per cent of hydrogenperoxide, become an excellent germicide and cleaner. Unlike traditional disinfec- tants, Accel TB doesn’t need to be applied continuously - so the surface remains wet for ten minutes - in
When she expressed interest, a pack- age was put together and presented to the board of directors. Anivac has been dealing with Director Susan Reynolds. It was the Category IV ranking that eventually sealed the deal.

These points were presented to officials from WEG, the first of which was met at a trade show and given a rundown of the product.
order to disinfect. Because it is a cleaner and disinfectant in one, it takes one application of one product to do both jobs. Also, it doesn’t con- tain chemicals and therefore is the first disinfectant awarded EcoLogo Certification in Canada and Green Seal Certification in the U.S. It is also categorized as a Category IV product by the EPA, which is the safest standard.
Nobody wants another EI outbreak like what happened in Australia.” For WEG, Accel will be used to clean the stalls and equipment. The plan is to bring 45 gallon drums in concentrated form and apply the product using “foamers”. Anivac Corp. will have a booth for the 17 days that WEG runs.
“There are no disadvantages to Accel TB” Deitrich says. “It’s great. It’s going to take off like gang- busters!”
