2010 Point & Trophy Rules
• In order to accumulate points for Area 3 year-end awards, all riders, handlers and owners must be members of the Area 3 Promotional Club and reside within the boundaries of Area 3 or have applied in writing each year (via a completed mem- bership form) for membership due to an inactive club (bordering Area 3) and have been accepted by the Board of Directors.
Plans for the 2010 Show Season are being finalized .Thank you to our dedicat- ed Board of Directors for their hard work. Spring Classic is a 4 day show held at the Orangeville Fairgrounds on May 21-24. Improvements have been made to the show grounds with new barn and rid- ing rings. There will be a fundraising pasta dinner for the youth team. Please show your support and buy a ticket! Also volunteers and dinner supplies are greatly appreciated. Details at
www.area3.ca. There will be a photographer avail- able at the Spring Classic to do candid and posed photos.

appearing on the horse’s registration papers and all own- ers & exhibitors must be members of Area 3 in order to accumulate points. This means that if a family member’s name appears on the papers, they must hold an Area 3 membership in their name (example: Horse is owned by Sally Smith but Sally does not show, her FATHER John does – both Sally & her Father John must be members of Area 3 in order for John’s points to accumulate). It is the responsibility of the owner/exhibitor to ensure they have completed all the necessary membership requirements (with both Area 3 & AQHA) in order to accumulate points. Please see the Area 3 membership form for fur- ther information.
• Any member who moves out of Area 3 during the course of the calendar year may continue to accumulate points for year-end awards. However, the member and/or horse may be eligible for year-end awards in only one area of Ontario. The area clubs involved must be notified by registered mail within ten days of moving as to which club the owner wishes to accumulate points in. • All members in a partnership must be members of Area 3 and reside in Area 3 to accumulate points. • There will be two year-end awards in each class: Champion and Reserve Champion. • Amateur and Youth points will be accumulated on a one horse/one rider basis. The Amateur/Youth or their family (as per AQHA rules) must be the last name appearing on the horse’s registration papers. Walk- Jog/Trot, Lead Line and Small Fry Showmanship points will be awarded to the rider and for these classes only, the horse does not need to be owned by the exhibitor, but must be an AQHA registered horse.
• To qualify for a year-end award, a horse must show in that same class in at least 3 Area 3 approved shows. For the purpose of this qualifying rule only, each circuit (whole or part of) will count as one show (Spring Clas- sic, Teen Ranch, Summerama & Summer Circuit & OQHBF Fall Finale).
To qualify for a year-end class award, the follow- ing number of minimum points must be accumulated: Open, Amateur & Youth Halter Classes – 10 (exception for weanling classes – 5)
