MAY 2010 THE RIDER /3
Halton Place Continued from Page 1
A major new hunter ring, adja- cent to the grass grand prix field, will be christened this year as well as two feature hunter classics held in the main grass ring: the $10,000 Villar- boit Hunter Classic and the $3,000 LongRun Thoroughbred Hunter Clas- sic Final. All hunter divisions will have a 15 point rating system each week. Both Classics will include VIP hosting for riders, owners and sup- porters.
Acknowledged as a European- style facility, Halton Place’s park-like setting will be sporting an enhanced ‘backstage’ image this season with a newly created stabling area featuring the “Hi-Hog” tented stalls used at
Spruce Meadows and Thunderbird Show Park.
Hospitality will get a ‘leg-up’ with a new elevated VIP area which will house the HP Club during the three weeks of the Canadian Country Classic (August 25 to September 12). Club membership includes award- winning catering and hospitality Fri- day through Sunday of each week, with proceeds dedicated to the Georgetown & District Memorial Hospital.
Key competition elements at Halton Place events will continue with the $22,000 Mini-Prix Series, the Canadian Jumper Development Series Ontario Finals and the Ontario Talent Squad class, plus the addition of Jump Canada’s newly created “Emerging Rider” classes.
Full season competitors at Hal- ton Place will benefit from a series of
awards including $3,000 and $2,000 respectively to Mini-Prix Series first and second place winners, $1,000 each to the Hi-Hog leading junior/amateur jumper and hunter riders, plus Equestrian Facto- ry Outlet (EFO) Champion jackets to the season high point winners in all core hunter and jumper divisions.
For specific information, sched- ules, hospitality and event details, visit the newly designed Halton Place website (
