As i have mentioned in my previous articles, the topic of nutrition is
very vast, dynamic and complex. It must be tailored to an individual’s metabolic
function and needs. There is a lot of great nutritional advice available on foods
and food products. If I had to pick one thing to tell everyone to do to better for
their health from a nutritional standpoint, it would be to drink plenty of water.
Water is essential to the body and for overall health. Its also is a dilutant of
chemicals and toxins and it aids in flushing them out. It also helps in circulation
of nutrients. every person should drink approximately half his/her body weight
in fluid ounces of water a day.
SMOOthIE OR nOt tO SMOOthIE?
From a personal stand point i am very critical of foods and nutritional con-
cepts in general. especially since there are so many poor-quality foods and
poor nutritional advice. So on the topic of smoothies, in my opinion and based
on factual nutritional evidence of their ingredients, they hold no nutritional
value and have zero health benefit. If anything, they can actually do the op-
posite and cause heath problems since they are loaded with sugars. I would
recommend juicing over smoothie-type drinks—and juicing in moderation
with certain low-sugar vegetables and fruits.
Being in great shape and health is not an arduous task. All it takes is some
good information and creative thinking.
