(4) Outdoor drapes / pillows - Amazing fabrics and textiles are now made
specifically for outdoor spaces. These are meant to endure the sun and rain and
can be left out year-round. Nothing adds a more luxurious look than creating a
cabana-type feel by hanging panels on the various sides of a covered patio. Add
a couple curtain rods and panels if an unsightly garage is part of your backyard
and take this wall from raw to warm. As for the pillows, I think they are the final
essential touch to add luxury to a space. Pillows have the ability to pop color on
neutral furniture, giving you the option to change things up at a later date to a
new look. Those shown are found at Crate & Barrel. Pillows range from $20-30 and
drape panels around $100.
(5) The Grand Puba of All Planters! People sometimes go wrong on the pots
and planters, often doing everything else top-notch and then killing the overall
look with the wrong style of planters. This element is a key design component
and picking the correct plants to go inside is equally key! Consult the experts
at your local nursery. As for the pots, any place from Ikea to DWR will offer great
options in a full range of price points. I once designed a loft project in Phoenix
using an amazing design offered by DWR. These ultra-sleek cylindrical pots offer
an illumination feature for mood lighting or that amazing effect needed for the
ultimate party! These range from $300-$500 depending on the size.
