Interactive DOUBLE DOWN INTERACTIVE

The ultimate end-to- end social experience

G3 interviewed Double Down Interactive’s Senior Vice President and General Manager, Will Daugherty, at G2E regarding the hugely successful transition of IGT’s Wheel Of Fortune to the social casino platform and about the future of social and real-money convergence

It’s amazing to think that with all the vast array of social gaming content available to players, it’s a land-based title, launched by IGT in 1996, that is currently taking the sector by storm. Wheel Of Fortune Double Diamond is proving a huge suc- cess just a month after its launch. The game has achieved iconic status as one of the most success- ful games in slots history and looks to be about to repeat that achievement in the social gaming sec- tor as part of DoubleDown Casino’s portfolio of games.

Speaking to DoubleDown Interactive’s Will Daugherty at the G2E show in Vegas, he com- mented that the game has already exceeded expectations, while another title in the Wheel of Fortune range is already in development. “Creating great player experiences begins with great gaming content,” underlines Mr. Daughtery. “It’s a privilege to be able to offer players the world’s best portfolio of gaming content, which have already proven to be huge hits in land-based gaming. Of course, you also have to match that content with DoubleDown’s fantastic customer service and peerless social platform to create the

ultimate end-to-end player experience online.”

DoubleDown has certainly benefited from the universal popularity of the Wheel Of Fortune brand, which has added to its own fortunes in 2014, with Q3 revenue topping US$72m, putting the company on track for revenues of $300m at the close of the financial year. At present, daily active users top over 1.8 million, a figure that is likely to expand even further once the IGT and GTECH worlds collide early in 2015. The combined

online convergence of the two gaming giants will have immediate benefits spreading across social, online and land-based.

“There is a huge volume of social and real-money convergence taking place right now,” states Mr. Daugherty. “While we currently have 60+ part- ners participating in the DoubleDown Casino Partner Program offer for land-based customers, we want to meet with operators to discuss the player assets that we can bring to the table. We are working to ensure that every aspect of inte- gration is easier to implement and to make sure that for the operators working with us there are nothing but benefits.”

Having integrated its player management systems with IGT’s Advantage system, it’s clear that into 2015 DoubleDown will further build on its own advantages, pressing forward with game content, customer service, increased focus on mobile/tablet gaming (Mobile applications com- prised 34 per cent of social bookings compared to 25 per cent in the prior year quarter), and an even closer relationship with Facebook. “We met the Facebook team here at G2E,” states Mr. Daugherty. “They update us with the latest plat- form developments and ask us to really push them and stretch them in new areas. DoubleDown is a significant Facebook partner and it’s a relationship in which we are constantly driving progress across both our businesses.”
