MERKUR GAMING BRINGS RAIN TO VEGAS DESERT

Merkur Gaming pulled out all the stops in Vegas with jaw-dropping new cabinets, HD titles and a series of regional themes

The Merkur Gaming stand at G2E delivered the biggest number of debuts, surprises and genuine ‘departures from the norm’ that the Germany- based has ever delivered at an international event. Merkur Gaming showed its first HD games series at the G2E show in Las Vegas amid a swathe of new gaming products. The games, crisp and pin-sharp in detail were complemented by a range of new cabinets, including the new Evolution SL and the Avantgarde. Chief amongst the new releases, however, was the show- stopping Spaceball cabinet, a centre-piece slant-top cabinet with a domed back (hence the name) which cocoons the player in their own gaming bubble. “It creates a very private space,” explained Merkur Gaming Product Manager, Hartmut Sänger, “whereby the player can enjoy excellent controllable sound effects and a totally new gaming experience. It needs quite a lot of space, preferably in a VIP area, and has drawn lots of attention here at G2E, especially from US operators.”

Merkur Gaming has already begun testing its games in the US market, starting with the Seminole American Indians in Florida, a tribe that places the highest demands on its machines in a market utterly focused on slots. Certainly the Seminoles won’t be wanting for games, with 18 new titles launched at the show joining a current 125 game library, many of which have been

specifically developed for regional markets. An entire range of South America focused games appeared on the Vegas booth, titles with up to 50 lines and 264 ways to pay, generating much more activity and player choice in the selection of bonus wilds and extra free games. Many titles allow players to select their volatility preference, while each is extremely vibrant with further multi-lingual options. “These titles are ideal for Mexico, Colombia and Peru,” states Mr. Sänger. “They are markets looking for more colour and interactivity and these games deliver those qualities.”

Another debut at the Vegas show for Merkur Gaming was the appearance of the Germany- based gaming giant’s first series of games with Asian themes. Remarkable as that seems, Golden Wings and Sentinels of Dawn are the first titles the Gauselmann subsidiary has specifically targeted at Asian players, with dedicated themes, sounds and bonuses. New games, such as Honey Liner, also shows Merkur Gaming playing with conventions, introducing innovative reel refreshes, while Pyramid of Power, already popular in Mexico and Colombia, replaces traditional reels with hexagonal blocks refreshing in an extremely fast (one second per game) format.

A further new entry at G2E, Jackpot Rain is a community jackpot link with connecting elements and a Rain-themed jackpot. built upon a three level mystery jackpot, in which even players not participating in the jackpot can claim half of the overall win. Testing has been

underway in Romania were Mr. Sänger explains that the link has been packed with players enjoying the specially selected gaming mixes. “Our main offer to the operator is a multi-game product,” describes Mr. Sänger of Merkur Gaming’s prodigious output. “We know that the majority of gaming machines launched in the US are single games, but we believe that in the current climate, the ability of the a player to change the game to suit their play, as opposed to the operator having to change the entire machine to keep track of play, is the future for this market.”
