Review G2E LAS VEGAS 2014 - PART 1
Bally Technologies showed a calvalcade of new licences, including the amazing Wonder Woman and the hit TV show, Duck Dynasty, at the G2E show, while still finding time to bake cookies too
Skipping lunch for the three days of the G2E show is an unavoidable hazard when you’re bombarded by so much information, innovation and surprises. However, being tormented every day by the smell of warm chocolate cookies emanating from the Bally Technologies stand was cruel and unnecessary torture. Having created, as part of its Powerhouse brands, a stunning Friends progressive video slot, reuniting players with Rachel, Monica, Phoebe, Chandler, Ross, and Joey from the hugely popular sitcom, Bally also recreated the show’s Central Perk on the booth, replete with coffee house and freshly baked goods.
The Friends game gives players the chance to experience the laughs and loves in a whole new way with a wide-area progressive top award, clips of the show’s many hilarious moments, and a wheel bonus awarding credits or one of four different Free Games features. Friends is presented on the ALPHA 2 Pro Theatre, a new cabinet configuration that made its debut at G2E, features twin Pro Wave cabinets topped by a 55- inch horizontal video screen designed to envelop players in the entertainment experience and deliver maximum impact on casino floors.
An unfamiliar show to non-domestic audiences, but one that is currently No.1 in the US and many international cable networks, Duck Dynasty delivers big beards and even bigger bonuses in the video slot game by Bally in conjunction with G2 Game Design. In a celebration of all things red-neck, the Duck Dynasty slot, also presented on the Pro Theatre, had players hunting for more with a wheel feature packed with six different bonuses inspired by the show.
While the hill-billie stars of Duck Dynasty weren’t in attendance at G2E, the crowds quickly wrapped around the Bally booth for a chance to catch Lynda Carter, star of the 1970s TV show, Wonder Woman. Wonder Woman Wild and Wonder Woman Gold were also unveiled were also unveiled as a pair of for-sale titles presented exclusively on the Pro Wave cabinet, including action scenes and music from the classic show, along with three progressive jackpots available at any bet level, Free Games, and popular play mechanics. And yes, Ms. Carter still looks amazing.

Firehouse and Betty Boop’s 5th Avenue. Betty Boop’s Firehouse on the Pro V22/32 platform features a ladder bonus, Free Games, and a sizzling hot wide-area progressive jackpot. Betty and her playful pup Pudgy take players on a luxury shopping spree in Betty Boop’s 5th Avenue, which was presented on the Pro V22/22 with a Cash Wheel and offers seven ways to spin the wheel.
Additionally, four new games join Bally’s lineup of titles featuring the Quick Hit mechanic: Cash Wizard featuring Quick Hit, Cash Wheel Black & White featuring Quick Hit, Quick Hit Cash Spin, and Twin Fire, which is a combination of Hot Shot Progressive and Quick Hit.
Also taking center stage was Bally’s Take ‘n Play (featured in the September issue of G3), a remarkable innovation that enables players to take their game off the casino floor and into other areas of the property for the first time by playing a physical slot machine on the convenience of a tablet.
Several new cabinets were also launched at G2E on the Bally stand. The Pro Theatre features twin Pro Wave cabinets topped by a 55-inch horizontal video screen designed to envelop players in the entertainment experience. The Pro Series V27/27 slant-top dual-screen cabinet supports Bally’s extensive library of dual-screen video content in a sleek exterior that features a lower profile. Optimal viewing, comfortable seating, increased interaction, an ergonomic deck with soft-touch coating, and even an integrated purse hook – this cabinet is designed for players’ comfort and enjoyment.
However, it was the The Pro Wave 360° that stopped the crowds dead in their tracks. It’s a community-style gaming centrepiece with a circular display featuring five Pro Wave cabinets, a striking 50-inch curved 360-degree video topper, and 360-degree surround sound. It’s a configuration that featured the new interactive game, Dragon Spin, in which players share wins and bonuses.
