SYNOT MONITORS THE VLT MARKET
Syont has launched its latest VLT at the recent Slovkia Gaming show, adding multiple screens to its cabinets Czech Republic - VLTs
While its Chairman, Ivo Valenta, is presently cam- paigning to run for senator of his Parliamentary Constituency in Moravian Slovakia (it is campaign to become senator for Moravian Slovakia in the Czech Republic Senate house), Czech gaming firm Synot has been busy with new product launches and global marketing plans. New products have been launched for VLTs into the Slovakian market, with the launch in September of two new cabinets, an upgraded Black & White cabinet with addition- al third screen and fourth screen topper, while the Trinity cabinet launches with, as the name sug- gests, three monitors. Synot currently supplies 33 per cent of Slovakia’s VLT market and with eight new games launching for these latest cabinets, the company is looking to further increase its market- share, not just in Slovakia, but all international markets.
The new cabinets were recently shown at a small domestic Slovakia exhibition, since Synot has refused to support a Czech exhibition as the mar- ket in its home territory remains unstable. Synot will instead be concentrating its efforts in wider international markets and on the London show in February. Synot’s latest cabinets now complete a seven machine line-up, spanning a range of medi- um to high-end gaming (including uprights and
slant tops) with 90 games currently available across all cabinets driven by the Synot server- based VLT system to suit all types of locations.
Proving its versatility, Synot has recently installed its first VLT cabinet in the African market of Cameroon. “It’s a promising market,” explained Synot’s Miroslav Valenta. “Though it has proved quite the technological challenge to ensure we have a stable connection for the server-based platform. We have just begun operations after a great deal of testing to link everything back to our server in the Czech Republic. However, we’re very happy with the results and look forward to further expansion in this new market for Synot.”
Synot will also shortly be announcing the opening of its first office in Spain, in the city of Grenada, as the company continues to expand in the Spanish VLT market after making a very positive start.
Belgium The Belgian Gaming Commission is seeking to ban online sites offering free gaming apps for mobile devices, adding such sites to a proposed social gaming operator blacklist. In the commission’s opinion, such “play-for-fun” apps, especially those promoting poker and casino games, make it extremely difficult for the industry to monitor the age of players involved and so could lead to underage gambling and addiction. In addition to the social gaming operator blacklist, the Belgian Gaming Commission has also warned the country’s poker players that it will soon introduce a 75 per cent tax on their winnings.

On the digital side, improvements in VIP management, a growing customer base driven by cross- sell from our venues and the impact of the Grosvenor Casinos branded live casino (launched November 2013) drove revenues up 71 per cent in the period.
