ne of the biggest rail-related events in New England each year is “Glory Days of the Rail-


road,” held in White River Junction, Vt. The 22nd annual edition was held on September 13, 2014, and for visiting railroad photographers it was one of the best ever.


This year’s theme was the railroads that serve White River Junction; the village has always been a major rail

hub, as five different railroads built lines through the area between 1847 and 1863. Today’s railroads all had equipment on display at Glory Days, including New England Central (now a part of Genesee & Wyoming), Vermont Rail System and Pan Am Railways. Amtrak, whose Vermonter serves the classic passenger station in town, had its display train on hand. The only rail- road not represented was Claremont


Concord, which interchanges in White River Junction but is based just across the Connecticut River in West Lebanon, N.H.
