ABOVE: Hallmarks of night photo events by Lerro Productions are images of railroaders at work. Nos. 1225 and 765 are seen outside the turntable “house” during the June 21 session. To make the shot work, the glass had to be re- moved from the house window to eliminate glare and reflection. Gary Melford works the turntable controller.

LEFT: Portraits, inspired by the work of wartime photographer Jack Delano, are also a part of the scenes of railroaders at work. Alaina Kraus poses as “Rosie the Riveter” in front of No. 1225 on June 21.

for work on the passenger cars and T.J. Gaffney’s Streamline Historic Services, LLC, was contracted to help with ven- dors and equipment acquisition. Steam Railroading Institute contin-

ues to be one of the best places to see large locomotives in action, in no small part thanks to the friendly Lake State Railway that is based in Owosso. No. 1225 continues to have plenty of railroad with decent track to stretch its

legs, and there have been some spectac- ular photo charters on the line over the years (including double-headed Berk- shires on freight). Regular excursions help round out SRI’s busy calendar. With another successful event in the

books, maybe we can look forward to SRI and No. 1225 inviting their steam friends back for another show. Let’s hope it doesn’t take five years for the next one to happen.
