ABOVE: A BNSF train negotiates the tight street trackage in the Los An- geles Harbor as they prepare to bring a steel slab train out of the water- front area in February 2008.
TOP: Along with the Rio Grande, I count Mon- tana Rail Link as one of my all-time favorite railroads. I have made many trips from my home in Colorado to photograph the MRL in Montana. At the end of another successful trip, I was beginning my drive home when I dis- covered this scene at the Missoula round- house. Nothing like a full moon and diesels in the fuel rack to inspire me to break out the tri- pod in June 2000.
ABOVE: When it comes time to move to my next destination, I usually hit the road as the sun is going down. I also prefer to follow the tracks if at all possible, and the end result was a sunset shot along Southern Pacific’s Sunset Route in the desert of Southern California.
