Kory Sorenson has devoted the last 15 years exclusively to the management of capital and risk in insurance companies and banking institutions. Until the end of 2010, she held the position of managing director, head of insurance capital markets at Barclays Capital in London, where her team conducted innovative transactions in capital management, such as the launch of the first private and renewable securitisations. She also conducted transactions in M&A, equity, hybrid capital, and risk management for major insurance companies.


With a very successful career under her belt, Sorenson previously


led the team in charge of capital markets specialising in insurance at Credit Suisse and the team in charge of debt markets for German, Austrian and Dutch financial institutions at Lehman Brothers.


“The highlight of my career thus far is not a single event or transaction. Rather, it is the knowledge that I have been able to achieve success for and with my clients in both benign and difficult times with consistency and integrity,” she says.


“The resulting sustainable, trust-based relationships with clients


and peers have been the catalysts for opportunities to innovate, manage and grow that have made my career so enriching.”


She continues: “One of the greatest challenges in a demanding

my management positions have encouraged a high degree of technical innovation, broad geographic exposure, strategic vision, and development of management skills.”


In 2014, Sorenson is focusing her skills on corporate governance.


“I joined the board of SCOR and the audit, strategy and risk committees in 2013,” she says. “This is a fantastic experience in terms of the global vision, technical aspects and strategic focus the work entails.
