Partner
Timeline: 2011—Transitioned from V3 to TigerRisk 2010—Joined V3 Insurance Partners 2004—Joined Aon Benfield
Kelli Morash is a partner at TigerRisk Partners and has more than 20 years’ experience in the insurance and reinsurance industry. Before joining TigerRisk, she was the business partnership manager at V3 Insurance Partners, a specialist multiline managing general underwriter, which offers programmes targeted at small to mid-sized companies.
At V3 Insurance Partners, Morash was assisting the national
practice divisions with carrier partnerships and reinsurance strategy for various lines of business including DIC, miscellaneous professional liability, workers’ compensation and commercial auto.
Prior to joining V3, Kelli was senior vice president at Aon Benfield and was responsible for the production of treaty business from new clients in all lines of business. She worked closely with the internal divisions to support the needs of both regional and global clients, including modelling, actuarial, rating agency, M&A, claims and accounting.
Morash has spent the majority of her career in various
reinsurance underwriting roles, including facultative and treaty, gaining a valuable knowledge base.
Working her way to the top, Morash has many career successes
to date. “One of the highlights of my career has been receiving an opportunity from a prospective client based on a referral from an existing client. This has been the ultimate compliment to our team and organisation and reflects a level of trust and value being added to our client’s platform,” she says.
Morash’s experience and commitment to the industry have
allowed her to overcome the challenges that have emerged along the way, as she explains. “Insurance organisations want better coverage, lower costs and greater efficiency with their reinsurance purchases. Our team competed for—and won—a new account
that had been with the previous reinsurance broker for many years with a reinsurance structure that the client felt was optimal.
“Reflecting on our win, it was very effective to break down the walls of resistance by inspiring and encouraging the client to see the short-term and long-term vision of the placement.”
At a time when the industry is changing and new capital
is entering the market, Morash believes that it is important to remain open-minded when considering innovative solutions.
“Our business is changing and solutions are going to look
different,” she says. “Our responsibility as an intermediary requires us to have an intense curiosity, to ask a lot of questions, and to learn to do things better.
“Embracing and adapting to this change will be a key component
to future growth. Personal career aspirations centre on stretching to obtain new skillsets and filling in the knowledge gaps to be prepared to innovate and anticipate rather than react.”
