Cathy Chen is chief financial officer of Peak Re. She was appointed to the role in October 2013 and her responsibilities include overseeing the financial and operational management of Peak Re. Chen has more than 10 years of accounting and financial experience in the insurance-related industry.


Prior to joining Peak Re, Chen was chief representative for


Lloyd’s at the market’s Beijing representative office, where she was responsible for the promotion of the Lloyd’s brand and enhancing the organisation’s government relations in China. Before working at Lloyd’s, she was CFO for Swiss Re’s China operation.


“Joining Peak Re is certainly a highlight of my career as I


have always wanted to apply my financial background and knowledge to assist an international reinsurer to develop,” says Chen. “I gained a very good understanding of the insurance market when I was Lloyd’s chief representative in Beijing, yet my personal interest has always been in the finance field given all my accounting and financial knowledge gained in my previous roles.


“The opportunity at Peak Re has not only allowed me to return


to the finance field, but also offers me a chance to fully utilise my experience in the past to create value to this newly established Asia-Pacific based international reinsurer.”


Chen hopes to continue to modernise the industry’s way of thinking through the offerings of Peak Re. “As the CFO of this visionary firm, I bring new insights from my managerial and operational experience gained in various international re/ insurance organisations,” she says.
