Second location forYorkshire salon


Yorkshire-based Beauty By Rebekah has opened its second salon in the market town of Boroughbridge, following the success of the group’s first salon which opened in Harrogate in 2011.


Rebekah French, who has been running Beauty By Rebekah for the last 14 years, told GN: “I have been thinking about opening another branch of the salon in a neighbouring location for some time, and then the Boroughbridge store became available and it was too good an opportunity to miss.”

Phone app firmexpands globally


Sappsuma is expanding into more countries, most recently setting up an office in Durban, SouthAfrica.


The company, which creates high quality mobile phone apps for salons, has its global head office in Cardiff, in addition to offices in the USA, Ireland and Holland.


Director Dan Strutt told GN: “We are delighted to be bringing Sappsuma to SouthAfrica. The SouthAfrican phone market is changing and feature phones are being replaced by smart phones. Now is the right time to launch and help beauty salons across South Africa to grow their business.”


At the salon’s opening night in December, guests were treated to taster treatments and cupcakes!

New salon B10 Bar has opened in London packed with innovative touches, such as convenient mobile phone charging stations and a high-tech tablet to surf the net or catch on up last night’s TV.


What’s more, the blowdry and beauty bar has an on-site crèche monitored by CRB-checked nursery assistants and qualified sitters.Mums even have access to tablets which are linked up to the crèche, so they can check on their little ones while they enjoy a luxury pedicure.

Sussex salon breaks UKnail record!


Euphoric beauty salon and skin clinic celebrated its 10th anniversary by setting a new UK record for the greatest number of people painting their nails at the same time!


Located inWorthing, Sussex, the salon invited locals toWorthing Pier, where the consecutive polish-a-thon took place. Participants had to paint five nails and were awarded a certificate for taking part. The salon attracted 250 people to take the UK and Sussex records.


Mayor ofWorthing, Councillor Bob Smytherman, was on hand to verify the authenticity of the event, and allmoney raised fromentry fees was split between Breast Cancer Care andWorthing’s own Guild Care.


The current GuinnessWorld Record, set in 2011, is held byTaiwan with 1,156 people taking part.
