Dear Readers

Welcome to a new year! I hope, likeme, you’re starting 2014 oozing with positivity and high expectations; I have a good feeling about this year!

Here at Guild Press HQ, preparations for our 2014 exhibitions and events are well underway – there have been dates to confirm, marketing to organise, sales to bemade and ticket invitations to be sent out.Whilst the start of a new year is certainly incredibly busy, we always find that planning ahead and working well in advance ensures our deadlines aremet and that things go off without a hitch (or as few hitches as possible!).

And this is the way that I hope you are approaching your new year – by being well organised, planning for the future and taking the time to get it right.

Whilst the salon or your appointment bookmay be a little quieter during January, take the time to plan for the rest of 2014; are there any new treatments you think your clients would respond well to, consider courses you’d like to undertake, finalise your budget for 2014marketing, and write it all down or create a spreadsheet so that you have a permanent record to refer back to throughout the next 12months. I’d even go as far as to say that it’s not too early to start prepping for Christmas!

When it comes to building your career or business, it’s so easy to put it to the back of your mind during busy times. That’s why you should take the opportunity now that the hectic festive time has passed, to think about what you want from2014 and find a way to get it.

Wishing you a Happy NewYear.

The bca’s nominated charity the Healing Hands Network were also present, benefitting froma raffle and 10%of the proceeds fromthe event.

“As the bca grows in bothmembers and influence fromthe beauty industry, we felt that an event that featured inspirational innovators and business leaders addressing ourmembers would be genuinely appreciated by ourmembers. From the great feedback we have had so far, I believe we have well and truly succeeded, thanks to all of our speakers and ourmembers who attended the event,” commented Dean Nathanson.
