Thismonth, we take a closer look at the latest system offering from SkinBase, which aims to provide beauty professionals with an innovative way to offer IPL treatments…
Having already enjoyed huge success with their range of award- winningMicrodermabrasion machines, SkinBase has recently announced the launch of their latest innovation – the SkinBase PAYG IPL.
With consumers’ needs remaining at the very forefront, this new addition utilises the brand’s patented, and popular, Pay As You Go (PAYG) technology. “IPLmachines can be incredibly expensive, ranging from£8,000 to £40,000” says Richard Faulkner, SkinBase Managing Director and Founder. “[As a result]many salons simply cannot afford to purchase systems outright. The new SkinBase IPLmachines will be available for only a small refundable security deposit.”
The PAYGprotocolmeans that therapists are simply charged per treatment they perform. Thanks to themachine’s patented technology, a textmessage is sent through to SkinBase’s headquarters every time it is used and the designated payment card is then automatically debitedwith 30%of the retail price.
“PAYG reinvents how to operate and maintain professional equipment in your business,” explains Richard. “The SkinBase IPLmachine will communicate with headquarters every time a treatment is performed. The operator then pays a fixed fee based on the type of treatment performed [as] enough flashes will always be included to complete the selected treatment.
SkinBase IPL
Fact File • The SkinBase™IPL utilises Pay As You Go (PAYG) technologymeaning therapists are simply charged per treatment performed.
• The device’s applicator headmeasures 13.02cm², allowing therapists to target larger areas of the body in quicker treatment times.
• It has a ‘cryogenic’ handset which provides a cooling, local anaesthetic effect.
• SkinBase IPL can be used not only for permanent hair reduction but also for Photo Rejuvenation, Acne and Vascular Lesion treatments.
“For a simple treatment fee, all servicing, spares, consumables, training andmarketing support is included. It alsomeans that business owners know the exact cost to performa treatment and can therefore accurately calculate their gross profit margins.”
Additionally with the European Union currently petitioning for changes in IPL regulations in order to ensure the paramount safety of patients, therapists can rest assured that taking advantage of the SkinBase PAYG formatmeans they won’t be left with a very expensive and potentially obsolete piece of equipment. “Following negligence from unqualified therapists and sub-standard IPL machines, the EU is currently lobbying to change the regulation around IPL,” notes Richard. “It is hard to say what the outcome of these changes in regulation will be. There is a possibility that some importedmachines fromoutside Europe will be banned. However, anyonewith a SkinBase IPL can be confident that the [system] ismanufactured in Europe to the highestmedical CE standards.
“If the law decides that onlymedical professionals are able to provide IPL treatments, thousands of therapists will be left with unusablemachines. Under these circumstances, PAYG customers can simply return themachine to us.”
the tech spec
When asked whatmakes the new SkinBase IPL device stand-out fromthe current crop of machines available, Richard responds: “The SkinBase IPL applicator head is the largest on themarket at 13.02cm². Currently, the largest applicator head on themarket is just 8.64cm². This significantly increases productivity, allowing therapists to target larger areas of the body in almost half the time [which is] great for both staff and clients.
“It has a second ‘cryogenic’ handset which cools the skin to just above freezing and provides a chemical free, local anaesthetic effect. Cryo replaces the need for cooling gel or ice, making the treatment painless, faster and non-messy.
He continues: “The large spot size and ‘Cryo’ handset combined with the quick recharge of four seconds, means that the SkinBase IPL is themost productivemachine on themarket. It willmaximise the earning potential from your clinician’s time, as you can expect earnings of £250 - £500 per hour.
“SkinBase IPLmachines are navigated and controlled with a full colour touch screen. The systemis pre-configured with over 80 different treatments for bothmen and women
