Eyes on WolfVision’s fourth-gen visualisers

With classes and seminars in education and corporate enterprises often needing a close view of objects, pages from textbooks or perhaps even smaller items, visualisers are often required to produce enlarged views for the benefit of a wider audience. Austria-based WolfVision is now four

generations into its VZ-8 Series visualisers. The newest VZ-8light4 and VZ-8plus4 devices incorporate a range of new features, including elegant redesigned housing, native 1080p HD camera and WolfVision’s new YSOP1 image processing engine. Each unit also features a high-resolution image sensor chip to ensure the capture of high-quality image data. Users can enhance the images of objects using the 14x optical zoom, which is operated by an easy-to-use zoom wheel located on the top of the camera head. Alternatively, users can zoom remotely – either by syncing a smartphone with the device or by using a digital remote control (supplied with the VZ-8light4 + FP and VZ-Plus4). If the 14x optical zoom isn’t sufficient, there is also a 2x digital zoom for a more in- depth look at an object. The CMOS camera (1080p HD native

format) gives 980 lines of visible resolution for detailed pictures. The camera can also be tilted through 220º: 100º towards the audience and 120º towards the presenter. This enables it to be used like a video camera to record people, large objects or pictures, from either in front of or behind the unit, or

when objects on the working surface need to be shown from the side. The VZ-8plus4

boasts an enhanced feature set, with additions such as a built-in LCD preview monitor and the

ability to stream

H.264 video via LAN. It is also claimed to be the first visualiser in the world with a frame rate of 60fps at native 1080p resolution. The range also features USB and LAN ports as well as HDMI output for PC connection, to allow users to switch between visualiser images and computer images.

The Connectivity 2 software

captures video and audio recordings as well as providing the facility to stream images onto a network. It’s compatible with Windows XP, Vista and 7. www.wolfvision.com

SMART meeting room solution from Steljes

European technology distributor Steljes sees the productivity of meetings as essential to the daily running of businesses. But with employees often working remotely, the company feels there is a need to provide collaborative environments wherever the participants may be. The company considers the SMARTboard from US developer SMART Technologies to be the device to bridge the gap between meeting spaces and remote workers. The SMARTboard enables users to

view share and collaborate on documents on its large-format display from multiple locations, which the company says will save time and money.

The solution is loaded with SMART Meeting Pro Room software; users can write notes in digital ink, annotate over documents and

applications – with a finger or pen – and save and distribute work. In addition, the personal edition of Meeting Pro allows remote users to write directly into the collaboration workspace and offers other features such as offline editing of files created during the collaboration without being connected to a SMARTboard interactive display. www.steljes.com
