ISE 2014 plans for growth

THE ORGANISERS of Integrated Systems Europe have announced a number of innovations for next year’s 11th event. Comprising new theatres, education vouchers, and improved wayfinding, these features serve two key goals: attracting diverse new attendee groups, and ensuring smooth circulation of visitors as the show grows. “With ISE 2014 set to have a

larger floor area than any of its predecessors, we need to maintain the trend that has seen each edition of our show attract more visitors than the last,” said Integrated Systems Events MD Mike Blackman. “While the market for AV and electronic systems integration in Europe continues to grow, it’s clear that in addition to our core visitor channel of C-level integrators and installers, we need to attract attendees from other groups as well.” The 2014 event will feature

UK Crestron opens Design Centre

CRESTRON opened its first UK Design Centre Showroom on London’s Chelsea Harbour last month following three years’ planning to replicate facilities of a similar nature in the US. The new site is located inside Design Centre Chelsea, a 200sqm residential interior design facility. During the grand opening Robin van Meeuwen, vice president, Crestron International (right of picture, with CEO George Feldstein) emphasised that technology should be considered from the first instance when designing a

room’s interior. This view was a key factor in the company’s long search for the right home for this facility. The showroom is open to interior designs, integrators, architects and homeowners to experience the entire Crestron portfolio integrated into a show home interior. Interior designer Louise

Bradley was hired to design the space. Within it is a fully functional personal conference room integrated with Crestron RL Technology. The Microsoft Lync-based system was fully certified by the software giant

10 days before the grand opening. Crestron control room systems, lighting, speakers, sensors and more are installed throughout. Elsewhere, there is a family

room adorned with Crestron in-wall and in-ceiling speakers networked by a Crestron iServer Network Audio Server. Control for this is via a 5.7in TST-600-B-T wireless touchscreen.

A home cinema system with

a drop-down projector screen is run by a Crestron DigitalMedia 8G+ Receiver & Room Controller with Scaler,

while another family room incorporates Crestron Aspire 8in two-way in-ceiling speakers and in-ceiling light and motion detectors and temperature and humidity sensors. The annual Crestron

Residential Integration Awards are also due to be held at the facility in October. www.crestron.eu/showroom

a more comprehensive training and development offering than any previous ISE. Halls 7 and 8 at the Amsterdam RAI will house two new showfloor theatre spaces, devoted to residential systems and commercial applications respectively. The ISE Residential Solutions Theatre will be aimed at broadening the market for whole-house automation and intelligent building design, and so will be targeted at channels adjacent to residential installers – including architects, building consultants, M&E contractors and lighting designers. ISE’s Commercial Solutions

Theatre will similarly focus on end-user benefits of systems integration in a broad range of verticals, including hospitality, healthcare, education, corporate and government facilities. These sessions are intended to draw attendees

from two other non-traditional ISE visitor groups: end- customers of commercial integration products and services, and the content creation and experiential design community. To attract more junior-level engineers and technicians to ISE 2014, InfoComm has created an education voucher scheme. Anyone booking a ticket for the show using an invitation code will receive vouchers for free entry to two InfoComm seminars (on a first come, first served basis). To ease the flow of people in and around the RAI, a third entrance, known as Entrance F or the Park Entrance, will be opened. There will be a free cart shuttle service between the RAI train station and the Park Entrance. Also new for next year’s

show will be pop-up signage at the entrances to all 12 halls of the RAI, standardised route

planners with consistent orientation to complement the interactive wayfinding screens introduced in 2013, and an ISE Info Channel which will show event information on the in-house ‘RAI Live!’ digital signage screens.

Blackman concluded: “By

investing time, money and resources into a greatly expanded Professional Development programme for ISE 2014, we believe we will have the content to bring not just the right quantity of new visitors to the event, but the right quality as well.” www.iseurope.org
