We’re pleased to reveal the names of the first two panellists who will be contributing their expertise to our event next month
A recent Intent Media conference in the BAFTA auditorium
Charcoalblue’s Ian Stickland has been confirmed as a panellist
ALONGSIDE the case study presentations at Installation Showcase: Entertainment at BAFTA on 5 November, there will be a panel session entitled ‘Trends in venue design and operation – how do they affect the integrator?’ Leading experts in venue technology will be contributing their knowledge and experience to address this multifaceted question. Ian Stickland is a senior consultant with Charcoalblue, which is a specialist UK theatre consultancy. He has a degree in Music and Sound Recording (Tonmeister) from the University of Surrey and a diploma in Acoustics and Noise Control from the Institute of Acoustics. His expertise includes sound reinforcement and recording, cinema systems, theatrical lighting and technical management.
Sam Wise has 25 years’
experience as a theatre consultant working with industry-leading practices, has spent time working in technical roles in London’s West End, and as a recording engineer and sound effects artist, product designer, contractor, and managing director of a manufacturing company. He spent many years at Arup, but left earlier this year to set up his own consultancy, Venue Strategies. “I’m very pleased to have these experts in venue technology on the panel at Installation Showcase: Entertainment,” said Paddy Baker, editor of Installation. “There are a number of trends that this session can discuss, such as mixed uses, the multiplicity of choices of networking protocols, and how best to accommodate touring
kit. Delegates are assured of an informed and lively session.” The main content of the day
will be case studies of entertainment venue installation projects presented by the integrators, consultants or clients who worked on them. There’s a Q&A at the end of each session. At the end of the day, the audience uses voting technology to select the projects that have impressed them the most, based on three criteria: innovation, value for money and wow factor. There’s then a short awards presentation. Meyer Sound has signed up as a Platinum Sponsor, and we look forward to making further announcements in the run-up to the event.

SHOWCASE ENTERTAINMENT
an entertainment project that you think deserves a public airing at Installation Showcase: Entertainment, please contact Ian Graham (
ian.graham@
intentmedia.co.uk) or Les Wood (
les.wood@intentmedia.co.uk) on +44 20 7354 6000. For manufacturers, there are
many benefits to becoming a sponsor of the event. By introducing one of the case study presentations, you and your technology will be highlighted as a major name in the world of entertainment installations, and the event format will enable you to forge connections between your brand and best practice in this market. You’ll also be able to
present product and/or software demonstrations to the audience of key installation professionals. You’ll benefit from high-profile branding before, during and after the event, and your profile will be raised even further if the independent audience judges your project as one of the award winners. And, of course, there will be full coverage of the day in Installation. If you’d like to attend Installation Showcase: Entertainment, early bird tickets at just £49 are currently available from the event website.
