WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO A MANUFACTURER LOOKING TO ENTER THE DUTCH AV INSTALLATION MARKET?
‘Intercompatibility and networking are important.’ ‘Know your legislation before going into any market.’
‘Set up a decent dealer network. Many manufacturers enter the Dutch market and sell to almost anyone, eventually finding themselves making no money after a certain amount of time. And leaving dealers very dissatisfied.’
‘Try to find benefits for the customer and/or installer. Don’t come up with more of the same.’
… AND TO AN INTEGRATOR LOOKING TO ENTER THE MARKET?
‘At this moment in time I wouldn’t advise any integrator to try to enter the Dutch market. Because of the economic situation, companies are going bankrupt. If an integrator would like to enter the Dutch market, it is important to be more than a box mover. Good advice, knowledge, flexibility, and responding to customer wishes is important.’
‘Try to co-operate with other dealers, instead of fighting them.’ DESIRED CHANGES
IF YOU COULD CHANGE ONE THING ABOUT THE WAY THE DUTCH INSTALLATION MARKET WORKS, WHAT WOULD IT BE?
‘I would like to see more EN54-16 controls on the projects and ruled by the government.’
‘More understanding of technical possibilities by the user and/or decision makers. Clear statement/description on needs now and for the future.’
‘Price drops – competition is killing the market.’
