This time, I walked away with a pile of 85-foot Pullman-Stan- dard flat cars that their trailers would be riding on.

see the value of putting trailers onto flat cars. Initially, the trailers were very small and the flat cars that were built to carry these trailers were also small. These 40-foot and 50-foot flat cars were the norm in the experimen- tal days of TOFC (trailer on flat car). As TOFC popularity increased, trailer size also increased. Eventually, special flat cars in the 85-foot to 89-foot range were built specifically to carry these trailers. Pullman-Standard built 85- foot cars and that is what this Train- worx model is based on.
