9. The cupola windows have styrene strip (Evergreen No. 102) frames which are attached to the cupola siding. A piece of styrene is glued into the middle to cover up the open space. Two styrene strips (Evergreen No. 101) are attached to the top and bottom of the handbrake end window as tracks so they can slide open. 10. The Archer rivets have been added to the sides following prototype photos of the C&IM caboose (July RMC), as well as others that were sheathed in steel, to come up with the pattern.

Individual panes of clear styrene are attached to each sash, adding di- mension to the windows. This is a fea- ture I like best about wood models. You can’t always get that with injection- molded models. I used odorless cyano- acrylate from this point forward. Stan- dard cyanoacrylate will fog the glazing, leaving white fingerprints here or there. Once the window glazing was at- tached I secured the roof pieces perma- nently with odorless cyanoacrylate. The trucks were painted with Polly Scale Grimy Black and attached to the model with brass screws. Kadee No. 58 scale couplers were also attached to the model. I used the Hi-Tech Details air hoses with bracket for the brake pipe. These are rubber parts which will never break off once installed. A little Grimy Black on these parts will make them look less than brand new. The
