though it was done well after the house was built. This gave me clapboard sid- ing on the kit parts for the house and the “newer” store section done in novel- ty siding. To start construction, I assembled

the walls of the farmhouse to the base casting, checking that any flash and sprue attachment points were cleaned up to get tight, clean corners. I also as- sembled the storefront from the cast- ings, adding a bit of scribed styrene car siding as a ceiling over the two window bays, as well as over the recessed door-

way. I made sure this assembly was square and true before the glue dried. The addition of the ceiling panel holds everything square during construction, which is helpful, as the bay windows are quite fragile without any bracing. I used Evergreen 6″×6″ strip as cor- ner posts between the castings. This made the front a bit wider, as well as providing a means to glue the various pieces together easily. It will not be glued into place until the very end of the project, which makes it much easi- er to get into the interior for detailing,

adding lights, and installing window glass and window displays. While these parts were drying, I cut a piece of .080″ Evergreen sheet to use as the floor. Its width was cut to fit be- tween the sides of the storefront; the novelty siding will cover its edges. The store is 22′-0″ deep on the exterior of the right side, and the length of the floor came to 20′-0″ long measured from the inside of the shop-front window assem- bly to the house foundation (the end of the T). On the left side, the addition ex- tends along the full length of the T, back
