operational heel angles of catamarans are very small and not exceeding 2-5° during high-speed turns [14]; same advantage refers to low transverse acceleration during turns.
In general, from point of view of craft dynamics,
catamaran platform seems to be proper choice for wheelchair-friendly craft.
9. NOTES ON ENGINEERING
Engineering of structure is done by combination of accommodation elements and furniture with structural stiffeners;
the notes on engineering of catamaran
structures are provided in [14]. Challenging aspect of R1200 design is ability to ship the boat in parts and assemble on site using mechanical joints and secondary lamination (fig.11). These joints and details have been studied using finite element analysis based on Strand 7 software.
Engineering of systems included development of integrated automation and control system based on C- Zone platform from BEP Marine. Besides functions related to directly marine equipment other ‘domestic’ functions are coved such as lighting, housing equipment, entertainment, security and comfort control. This will allow full interactive touch screen control of catamaran from one or several locations on board – nice feature of craft considering its specific application.

CONCLUSION
In boat design, specifics of operation should define the acceptable platform and design particulars of craft, not vice versa. Thus best results can be obtained if craft is purposely designed not customized for use by wheelchair operator.
Some 8. INTERIOR DESIGN
Unfortunately on most of mainstream production small craft interiors are quite cramped and are designed to fit maximum number of bunks and bathrooms in unit of space. Given wheelchair access requirements those solutions often become unfeasible and this is the reason why most for small pleasure boats are not really suitable or customizable for cruising of disabled persons. Interior design requirements are discussed in detail in [4]; some notes on catamaran interiors are presented in [11,15].
In R1200 design interior is decided in straight lines and combination of sufficient wheelchair maneuvering area with passageways. The layout of craft is presented on Fig.9. Budgetary restrictions of 40-footer are not really compatible with elevators and efficient narrow hulls of catamaran (only 1.2m wide at waterline) are not best suited for wheelchair access and maneuvering in demihulls.
Digital human modeling was used together with simple mock-ups during development of interior. Feedback from customer was important way to judge about acceptable solutions in wheelchair ergonomics.
