VISUALS are big business these days, just ask the Visual Jedi & VJ Infinight aka the Super- star VJs... These guys have had a mega year in 2012 touring the world across 72 countries and VJing at the biggest festivals and club events for most EDM heavyweights. I mean, have you seen a recent major festival with no visuals?
Their company, aptly named ‘Future Visual’ after the slogan they live by ‘The Future Is Visual’ has been supplying custom 3D/4D animations, AV intros and video content for DJs, artists, major brands and music tours for a few years now, but with the recent boom of LED structures and video mapping, they have taken things to the next level, the rise of the VJ may be upon us, but these guys are already ahead of the game.
Cue this article, an exclusive monthly piece for DJ Mag readers to gain an insight into the world of VJing and Video DJing plus reviews in the ‘Tech Corner’ and in- terviews with some of our leading visual artist friends in the industry. Let’s go...
THE UPDATE: MARCH EDITION 2013
Welcome to our Superstar VJs monthly article for DJ Mag. As the world heats up in anticipation for this year’s Ultra Music Festival in Miami, Febraury is a month of preparation with Future Visual working with some exclsuive artists for this year’s events.
On the road, February turned into a pretty hectic schedule as the Supertar VJs could be found visualizing shows all over the world at: • The Grand Palais Concert in Paris, France • LED Festival in San Diego, US • Global DJs Beachside Festival in Doha, Qatar • Sutton Club in Barcelona, Spain • Alive Fest at Muscat Amphitheater, Oman • Cream Machine at ‘Life in Color’ Colorado, US PLUS some VJ shows in Luxembourg, Detroit, Montpellier, Zurich, Las Vegas, VIP Room in Dubai and Avalon in Los Angeles.
So then, onto this month’s issue. We are interviewing one of our very good and talented friends, VJ Aeon- child, we review a few of our shows this month, and we look at Cedric Gervais’ AV Intro for EDC. .
What is an AV Intro? Quite a few people ask us what an AV Intro is, it’s pretty simple, we create a custom intro that combines the Audio with the visuals in sync together. Our company has been providing some of the world’s largest artists and leading singers AV intros for many years now and also more recently, custom intros for festivals. Just recently we created intros for the Groove Cruise, Taboo of the Black Eyed Peas, Borgore and currently we have some surprise intros for an ar- ray of our artist clients at this year’s UMF!
The Inspiration Behind the ‘Molly’ AV Intro: After the huge success of Cedric Gervais’ Molly track, we were approached to created a custom ‘one-off’ AV intro for his big show at EDC. For us it was important to take the vibe of the song and wow the audience at Electric Daisy Carnival yet still keep the essence of the song in the visuals.
