We saw some festival announcements come out with your name on them; Ultra Main Stage being one of them. What festivals or shows are you most excited for coming up?

Well there’s a couple of shows that I’m playing that haven’t been announced… but I have a great billing and I’m able to bring my full setup. This allows me to play a proper, massive festival show. Ultra Main Stage is going to be crazy, it was quite high on my ‘To-Do-List.’ The summer season is slowly starting to take shape and it should be really fun!

Is there anyone that you would say your sound compliments perfectly?

No one really comes to mind, but I sometimes play an electro set that’s a bit more tame and a bit more melodically inclined, which makes myself fi tting to open for a ‘banging electronic set,’ or it could be a great closer for an ‘indie dance’ opener.

We noticed you’re very active on social media, and want to know how you feel about the growth of artists’ using these different mediums?

It completely changed the relationship between fans and artists. Artists are just as relevant in the music scene as they are as social media personalities. I think that is really cool. Anyone can make music with a laptop, and now we have all of these free mediums to share and spread this music. Based on people’s taste and love for your music, [your music] will eventually come out naturally.

We saw that you had mentioned something about wanting there to be a DMC for Con- trollers?

That would be so sick! Competition can really drive creativity. I think now is the time to come up with ways to make DJ’ing even more entertaining. Show the DJ as a musician, as a performer, and as a conductor. There is a huge desire for this kind of relatable perfor- mance.

Spending a brief 15 minutes with this talented young man made us realize how incred- ibly bright the future is for the world of music. Madeon has stayed true to his own style and has earned himself the well-deserved respect and support of artists and fans across the world. While he has already accomplished so much in such little time, we know that Hugo has endless potential to accomplish much more before his musical career is over. Unfortunately, our interview was limited to the constraint of 15 minutes, as we could have conversed for hours on end. His insightfulness and intelligence thoroughly impressed us, and it was an honor to pick his brain for a short period of time.
