CO2 cannons blasting, lasers illuminating the basement, and 200 students screaming, “I surrender,” as Cazzette jumps around behind the DJ booth. This was the scene on January 24th, 2013 when the Swedish duo consisting of Alex Bjorklund and Sebastian Furrer performed in front of 200 Indiana University students at a private event held at Pi Kappa Psi. Wait, Cazzette performing at a fraternity? That’s right! This legendary list-only party was easily one of the most talked about and memorable events ever to take place at the historic university. The only way to be granted access into this underground party was to be a member of the Greek Community at IU but luckily, we were able to interview Cazzette the night before and were graciously invited by the duo.
During the last full week of January, IU students were treated with not just one, but two Cazzette shows. The first show occurred at Kilroy’s Dunkrik, a local vanue in Bloomington, Indiana, best known for hosting some of the world’s most popular DJs. This event was thrown in honor of Cazzette’s release of their third and final edition of “Eject,” which was made public to fans the previous day. The duo did something no dance music producer has ever done by releasing the debut album, “Eject” exclusively on Spotify. In the interview, we learned about their motivation behind the newly released album, how they individually contribute to the group’s dynamic sound, and how they plan to challenge themselves in 2013. If this past year was a sign of things to come… we are excited to see what the future has in store.
