BUTTOCK CONTOURING WITH AQUAFILLING FILLER

This article discusses a novel technique and product when considering buttock augmentation

Background At present, plastic surgery has a tendency towards the use of minimally- invasive injection procedures, with the application of highly safe and long-lasting dermal fillers.

Study objective In the present study the authors set out to prove the safety and efficacy of the tissue filler AQUAFILLING, monitoring patients who underwent buttock contouring. Twenty-one subjects were enrolled in this study.

Conclusions Hydrophilic gel is a highly safe and efficient tissue filler. The gel proved its long-lasting efficacy.

N THE WORLD OF AESTHETIC medicine, at present there is a marked increase in the demand for the correction of the shape of the buttocks. Scientists and clinicians continually search for

new minimally-invasive, highly efficient, and safe methods for the correction of the buttocks. For this purpose, fat grafting, lipofilling, polyacrylamide gel, Macrolane, poly-L- lactic acid have been offered for a number of years. When analysing these methods, it should be noted that fat grafting and lipofilling are not strictly minimally-invasive, as it requires the taking of grafts from donor areas, and for thin patients these methods are impossible. The disadvantages of fillers based

on hyaluronic acid are related to their rapid disintegration and loss of clinical result. Repeated hyaluronic acid injections also lead to destruction of patient’s soft tissue. The use of polyacrylamide gel for soft tissue contouring was also fraught with the risk of different complications (e.g. gel defragmentation, its migration, inflammatory processes in soft tissue).

Twenty-one patients were enrolled into this study. The subjects underwent buttock contouring with the application of AQUAFILLING (bodyline). Indications for the procedures were:

for medically-aesthetic goals. The

advantages of AQUAFILLING are contained in its high physiology adaptability, owing to the content of 98% of physiological solution in the filler, and its expressed plasticity as a result of its spatial structure. It is also supported by long-term clinical results and low levels of local postoperative reactions.

■Buttock irregularity after different surgical procedures (e.g. liposuction)

■Disproportion of buttock soft tissue

■‘Thin’ buttocks. The main point of the aesthetic

contouring was injection of AQUAFILLING gel into the buttocks according to the generally accepted anatomical landmarks (Figure 1).
