and hobby shop in Morristown, carried the Kitmaster kits so I bought a few. They were fun to build and finish. With a little weight the goods wagon ran fine with the Tri-ang rolling stock. Some of the Kitmaster kits were sold in the United States by AHM for a while. Many of the Kitmaster molds were later acquired by Airfix. Sadly, some were destroyed in corporate reor- ganization. Still. many kits can still be found and enjoyed.

Correction In the July, 2012 RMC DISPATCHERS

REPORT it was reported that Tangent ACF gondolas were available decorat- ed for the Delaware & Hudson. This is incorrect. The decorated version is available for the Delaware, Lackawan- na & Western but not the D&H. We are sorry for any inconvenience this might have caused.

DAVID LEHLBACK Tangent Scale Models

Rosebud Thanks for the July COLLECTOR CON-

SIST article about Rosebud Kitmaster kits. Reading Mr. Wills’ column certain- ly brought back many memories. When my family moved to New Jersey in the early 1960’s, the previous owners of our house had left behind Tri-ang models and a OO scale train set that the father had accumulated while traveling. I somehow acquired a copy of the Observ- er’s Book of Railway locomotives of Britain and was fascinated by the sad- dle tank and high speed steam locos. Coincidentally, Leitner’s, the local toy

I read with great interest Keith Wills’ item on Rosebud Kitmaster. I built several of these kits many years ago and would have liked to have built more if they had offered North Ameri- can prototypes.

One engine Keith didn’t mention was advertised on the side of some of the kit boxes: a CNR’s U4a 6400 series 4-8-4. While I searched for this model kit, I was never able to find one. I’m wondering if it was ever produced.

Truck with crane

About two months ago, I found a pro- totype Universal crane (see August RMC). It was on a Packard truck which was being used in a quarry lo- cated in Simcoe County, Ontario. The truck and crane are now awaiting restoration at the Simcoe County Muse- um near Barrie, Ontario. Hopefully, within a couple of years the truck and crane will be cosmetically pleasing. I have visited this museum many times. It has a restored Canadian Na- tional steam locomotive and caboose (International Car type). In addition, it has historic construction equipment, restored and working, and some in the process of being restored. If anyone would like photographs, contact me at the address below.
