"The ferry industry has a lot to do to convey the advantages of travelling by ferry as the image lags behind the reality"

outstanding service, others will operate a low-cost service using basic ships and less expensive crews. In general, as someone who was in the aviation industry for almost 20 years during the 1970s and 1980s, I would say that whilst travelling by air has become progressively more unpleasant, especially for families, travel by ferry has become a much more enjoyable and relaxing experience. Ferry companies such as BF and P&O have invested heavily in new ships and are adding value all the time. We have a new £17 million passenger terminal at Portsmouth, which provides an even better experience for passengers. The ferry industry has a lot to do to convey

the advantages of travelling by ferry, as the image lags behind the reality. With air travel, it is the other way around.
