MORE ON TRICKING OUT
THE RUGER 10/22 John Anderson
introduced in 1964, is the second best selling 22 semiautomatic rifl e ever pro- duced. And it still keeps soldiering on, with new variations from the factory every now and then, including the new SR-22 model in an AR-15 style. every fashion imaginable … and prob- ably some we haven’t imagined. Over the years, this magazine has
printed articles dealing with the Ruger 10/22, and here I want to make some observations about several aftermarket accessories for the 10/22 that I use and like. Awhile back I joined several other writers at Elk Mountain, Wyoming, for a ground squirrel and prairie dog hunt
put on by ATK Commercial Products, a collection of seven ammunition brands and twelve accessories brands. This event would, among other things, give us a look at some of the newest after- market accessories from this holding company. When we arrived at a prairie dog

These products were new to the market then and Michael and I were about to give them one of their earliest fi eld trials. these are thumbhole models with a high cheekpiece and a broad fore-end, almost square in cross section. They use computer-enhanced designs and a steel pillar that supports the action. The fi nish is weatherproof and is available in fi ve camoufl age patterns, desert tan, black, and carbon fi ber fi nish. These rifl es were set up with 3-9x Nitrex scopes in a nickel fi nish, mounted in six-hole tactical rings. In addition to stocks, Shooters
This Weaver Classic Rimfi re 2.5-7x28 scope comes in black fi nish and has a typical plex-style reticle. Rings and base are from Grand Slam.
