Note From Writer Art Isberg in California He says: “In a recent article of mine in The Varmint Hunter

Magazine® on wolves, I predicted gray wolves would end up in California and Nevada sooner than anyone thought possible. Guess what? In today’s news (December 31, 2011), a radio collared wolf has entered California in Siskiyou County. Now more will come, and both mule deer and blacktail deer, and elk, will suffer because of it.”

Western Great Lakes Wolf Delisting

On December 22, 2011, the Secretary of the Interior, Ken Salazar, announced that the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) will be issuing a fi nal rule removing gray wolves from the list of endangered and threatened species in Michigan, Minnesota and Wisconsin, and in portions of adjoining states. This ruling attempts to return these recovered wolves to state management.

Correction

In the Winter 2012 issue of The Varmint Hunter Magazine® there was an error in an article by Butch Smith titled “My Friend The Duplex.” On page 144 on the seventh line down it says, “I placed the target at 25 yards (confi rmed with the rangefi nder) which just happened to be the distance between the thick and thin lines of my 6x scope’s Duplex-style crosshairs.” That is incorrect. It should say: “… which just happened to be the distance from the rifl e rest on my kitchen table to the back yard shed where I have the target placed.” Butch said, “As some read that they will wonder how there could possibly be 25 yards space between those parts of my scope reticle at only 25 yards! It may be a widefi eld but not that wide! Ha!
