TECH SKILLS Roto-Lock: 2011 Honda Civic
Door Actuator Installation ›› Submitted Steve Sze, KS Autotek, Philadelphia, PA - ICE Member
This is a view after the brace was cut out, and with all the accessories re- moved.
After the door panel was removed, the technician located the factory door latch. Notice the Phillips screw that secures it to the passenger-side door.
Before removing the door latch, the tech- nician unplugged the harness located on the back of the door latch assembly.
The new screen bezel now needs to be secured in place using the factory mounting locations.
The Phillips screw noted in Step 1 must now be removed allowing the door latch assembly to be removed from the vehicle for modification.
With the door latch assembly on the work bench, notice the 2 cables that route into the assembly. The technician will need to gain access to these.
A new mounting hardware is supplied with this kit.
Remove the Phillips screws then the the plastic cover plate to begin the modifications. The door lock cable is pivoted upward and slid out of the door latch assembly. Be sure not to damage the cables mounting collar as the cable will need to be reinstalled later.
This screen now controls all the func- tions the factory radio once did with the addition of SD card input and GPS navi- gation — with a beautiful factory looking installation.
