The second stage of the Industry Awards opened up voting by the industry to narrow the Top 50 and Top 100 to 12 finalists in each category. The “Top 12” retailers and installers were selected based on the high- est number of industry votes. This required candidates to “campaign” for votes from manufacturers, distributors, reps and other retailers and installers. And, for the first time, stores were able to let their customers vote for them as well. “We decided to open the voting up to consumers because we wanted to provide retailers with a tool to make their custom- ers part of the excitement,” said Solomon Daniels, editor-in-chief of Mobile Electronics. “Many retailers reported that they were hap- py to have a reason to reconnect with past
